Herbs and Nutrients to Help Calm Kids

These days, it can be tough to be a kid. Whether it’s school, friends, or other issues, kids can sometimes find it hard to relax. And it can also be difficult for parents to watch their child struggle with occasional stress. Fortunately, there are natural remedies for kids that can help them keep calm and carry on!

Natural Remedies for Kids

L-theanine is an important amino acid found in green tea that can help support calm, relaxation, and mood during times of stress if enough is taken. Because L-theanine supports relaxation, it can also play a role in sleep.1

In addition to L-theanine, there are herbs for sleep and relaxation as well. For example, chamomile is an herb that helps support mood, relaxation, and sleep.2 A 2019 analysis of 12 randomized clinical trials found that chamomile is a relaxation herb that significantly improves sleep quality.2

Passionflower is another herb that helps support a sense of calm and relaxation. A 2017 study featuring people who were feeling “nervous restlessness” found that after 12 weeks of taking Passionflower, the study participants had improved resilience and better-perceived quality of life.3

Research also shows that green tea is an herb that helps support a more positive mood, which is helpful during times of occasional stress.

Chamomile, passionflower, and green tea are considered safe, effective herbal remedies to help calm kids. By adding L-theanine to these calming herbs, there is additional nutritional and relaxation support while temporarily easing occasional stress.4

If your child is struggling with occasional stress and finding it hard to relax, the natural remedies for kids mentioned will help create a sense of calm. This combination is available as a tasty, dinosaur-shaped chewable called Relax-a-Saurus™ that is made with real grape juice concentrate sweetened with xylitol so it’s also healthy for teeth.5
