It seems like nowadays there is no moment left for busy moms to take a break. There is so much to do for the home, the kids, the spouse, that it can be difficult to remember to care for yourself, too.
Moms like you tend to put others first, and their needs last. Yet, how are you supposed to take care of others when you’re barely taking care of yourself?
We’ve compiled a list of self-care tips we hope serve as a starting point into re-prioritizing your own self-care so that you are better equipped for busy days ahead.
1- Put yourself first
If you’re not taking care of yourself, you won’t have the strength or energy to care for others. Need a day to soak in the bath? An afternoon nap? Perhaps watching your favorite tv show will lift your mood? Make sure to do at least one thing for yourself each day, and the rest will follow, except now you’ll feel more capable of tackling the day ahead.
2- Nourish your body
Your body can’t run on coffee alone. Make sure you don’t skip meals, and that they’re just as delicious and filling as your kid’s healthy meals. Proper fuel includes protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs.
This also means setting aside time to move your body. Perhaps you like running early in the morning before the kids are up, or a dance session with the family is more ideal. Whatever gets you moving, do it.
3- Your mind matters
When you’re going from Zoom meetings to endless replays of Peppa Pig while playing with the little one, your mind may become bored and exhausted. Mental unwinding and relaxation is necessary for a healthy mind. This could be taking a weekend off from social media, journaling, or reading before going to bed.
4- Sleep well
The CDC suggests adults need at least 7 hours of sleep each night. A lack of proper sleep has been tied to a higher risk of accidents and increased cravings. If you can’t get proper sleep, consider adding a supplement, such as KAL Melatonin DropIns™, to help support a healthy sleep cycle*.
5- Get help from others
Ever heard of the saying, “it takes a village to raise a child?” It takes more than just parents to help raise a child, that’s for sure. Seek help from grandparents, friends, or a daycare when you’re running low on energy or time. Getting help from others will make you wonder how you get anything done otherwise and will add some sanity back into your life.
6- Add supplement support
Supplements have many benefits and can be curated to meet your specific needs. Pretty Magnesium Powder combines magnesium and collagen to support healthy, naturally radiant skin*. And our Magnesium Bisglycinate Tablets offer fully chelated magnesium support for relaxation and healthy bone and muscle support. Whatever your specific needs, a supplement routine might be one way to support your lifestyle.
Self-Care is a Necessity
The more we learn about health and wellness, the more we realize that self-care is not just doing face masks and painting your nails; self-care is legitimate care of your mind and body so that it functions healthily.
KAL cares about your health and wellness goals and aims to help you reach them. Take some time to care for yourself, so that you may take care of others without compromising your health. It also sets a good example for your kids, to demonstrate that caring for yourself is important, however busy you may be.
